Life, Lived Better – Outdoors

May 2024 Newsletter

And Southern California is rolling…

Not with earthquakes (even though we have felt quite a few lately), but with the warmer weather that has brought the Outdoor Enthusiast out in all of us!  Our clients from Vista to Anaheim Hills (and beyond) are updating and adding to their existing furniture sets, re-furbishing worn pieces to like-new appeal, or, just blowing up the whole area and completely reimagining how they can enjoy their outdoor retreat.

And, of course, we are overjoyed, yet humbled to be able to help!

Bring us your questions, problems, puzzles, or complexities and we will turn them into graceful, elevated, and enjoyable retreats.

The world is your oyster, all you have to do is step out into the open.

(WBR) Wayne’s Book Review

My New Year’s Resolution / Goal for the year is to read one book a month.  And aren’t you lucky – You get a rare glimpse into the mind of Wayne Romain and his take on said book.  Just so you know, I’m not a reader.  In the last 10 years, I have probably read six or seven books at the most.  No literary giant here, but like a lot of things in life, you get outside your element, do things you don’t normally do, and you might learn something.

What does this have to do with the outdoors?  Maybe nothing.  Maybe a lot. But it does represent another pastime that we can enjoy (or muddle through) in The Outdoors.

This month’s book:  NUGLY by M.C. Ross (2023)

I know what you are thinking, well actually I don’t know what you are thinking.  I don’t know what I was thinking when I picked up this book from my 8-year-old daughter’s bookcase.  What I do know was that I was low on time and had to get a quick book in for this month’s edition of WBR.  What I won’t do for my fans…

Even though this book was meant for an elementary mind (insert self-loathing joke here), it has very valuable lessons and reminders for people of every age.  The book travels through the puppyhood of Nugget as he lives with 3 households of varying class, ethnicity, and social standing.  Essentially Nugget goes through the stages of depending too much on others, getting resentful and not trusting or loving anyone, and, finally, finding a happy medium of dependence and independence.  A well-done representation of how to deal with obstacles in life while trying to achieve balance.

And a great read with your kids to boot.

On a scale of 1-10, I’d give it a 7.

Note: This is my unprofessional, biased, informal review. I make no claims and receive no money or support for my reviews.  It’s just an extrapolation from the mind of WR.

Quote of the Month:

“As full of spirit as the month of May, and as gorgeous as the sun in Midsummer.” – William Shakespeare
