Wayne’s Book Movie Review
I’m switching it up this month. If you are new, this is typically the space where I extrapolate on a book that I forced myself to read (I ‘m no bookworm). This month I decided to switch gears and do a movie review (I’m no moviegoer either). I’ll give you a synopsis and my take on a flick that crossed my path.
This month’s movie:
Hoppers
From – Wikipedia
Hoppers is a 2026 American animated science fiction comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures.
The film follows animal-loving college student Mabel (Curda), who transfers her mind into a lifelike robotic beaver to communicate with animals and save their habitat from human destruction, inadvertently sparking an uprising in the process.
My take:
Now if I would have read the above synopsis before I saw the movie, I would not have been too excited to see this movie. Thankfully I did not.
This is definitely a fun movie to watch with family and friends. I was able to enjoy it in a small movie theater in Big Bear California over spring break with my wife and kids. The movie theater was surprisingly packed on a Tuesday afternoon with others who were beating the unseasonable heatwave taking place in March.
Having seen a few Disney movies over my 49+ years on this earth, I thought this would be a mundane adventure. Fortunately, the plot takes fun and unexpected turns to make this movie worth the ticket price. Mabel (the main character) is a sympathetic, endearing, and irritating figure, making her less than perfect approach to life more realistic. Her animal friends, human friends, and comical enemies in both worlds offers a creative storyline that keeps you wanting for more. All neatly tied up to a fantastic ending where I can see room for a “Part 2”.
On a scale of 1-10, I’d give it 8.
Note: This is my unprofessional, biased, informal review. I make no claims and receive no money or support for my reviews. It’s just an extrapolation from the mind of WR.
La Última Palabra (The Last Word)
“At last came the golden month of the wild folk – honey-sweet May, when the birds come back, and the flowers come out, and the air is full of the sunrise scents and songs of the dawning year.”
